And then theres clowns like the fella Mortician who in the same breath accused me of being some fella called FatMA and also called me paranoid!

Never mind!

Listen, this threads run its course - I think you should probably try and keep a handful of current first team players (Harper, Taylor, Duff, Butt, Ameobi, Carrolls) and bring in a few youth/reserves and maybe spend 1 or 2 million on seasoned CCC players (Leroy Lita is available on a free).

By slashing your wagebill and maintaining some level of competitiveness you stand a good chance of coming up within 3 years (perhaps only 1) and you won't mortgage the future of your club. I think you should do this under a proven CCC manager such as Steve Coppell, Nigel Worthington or Gary Johnson.

I suspect what will happen is Shearer will be appointed and he will only lose the players he has to lose (those who request it, those whose contracts are up and Joey Barton). This may well see you promoted. But if you dont go up first time you will be in a helluva lot of trouble; because your current debt and wage bill is not sustainable on 2 or 3 years of CCC TV revenue.

Your third option is a knight in shining armour arrives from nowhere, boots out Ashley and pumps gazillions into the team and you win the title at a canter! Fingers crossed for you

Enjoy next season anyway - you'll find home games are a lot worse (endless stream of **** teams playing for 0-0 draws all seemingly playing in yellow); but have some top away games with huge away followings in small grounds. Beating Blackpool away 4-2 is better than losing 3-0 to Liverpool. Some of my best away games have been in the CCC.

I think you'll probably be promoted one way or another - I have a feeling you'll do it through the play offs.

See ya! 8)

If we don't go up next season, I don't think that it will be a bad thing (unless we do get a huge backer....again), of course its all a balancing act with who to get shot of and who to keep, based on wage + ability = worth.
It all depends on the short term plan, which right now is one sheet of toilet paper long.
So before we can make any plans at all, we have to find out who's holding the purse strings which sadly is what its going to come down to.

Have to agree about away games. I much prefer to see away games than home games. This season aside

But lets face it, any neutral would find it bizarre that a bloke from a club with a rubbish football history ( especially in recent seasons bar one run under Keane ), whose club has survived by a thread last season, should come on here and advise us ......to get Cotterill ? Hadaway an ***** man !!

First of all Sir Alex Ferguson was a bloke from a club with a "rubbish football history" when he first started out in management. Would you have dismissed the opinion of a young fledgling Scottish manager in 1980?I dont see how on earth my opinion is any better or any worse than a supporter of the next football team.

And, besides, "rubbish football history" - are you on drugs, deluded or winding me up? We are a proper traditional football club with 40,000 supporters every week who have won the league 7 times and the Cup twice.

And are you the person who accused me of arrogance?!?! 'kin hell!

And I didnt advise the appointment of Steve Cotterrill - I was painting a picture as to the broad calibre and experience you should be aiming for. Proven knowledge of lower leagues, proven championship experiences - Cotterill, Coppell, Johnson, Di Matteo and Pardew tick these boxes. I believe that is the broad picture of a manager you should go for.

End of the day this is a forum for NUFC supporters. Had a rough season and one or two Mackems turn up winding us up. We are big rivals and whilst friendly banter is all well and good, it is a bit suspicious that someone turns up wanting to discuss our future constructively the minute we get shot of an absolute muppet.

Nothing personal but i'm not convinced you arent fatma. Also I dont post on Sunderland forums because I respect the fact that it's for Sunderland fans to enjoy the good times and de-construct the bad times. It would be nice to do that on a Newcastle forum too.

We get plenty of arguments on this forum between ourselves, healthy or not and certainly dont need Mackems chucking their two pence worth in. They have their own forums. Yes this thread seems fine and is aimed at discussing our situation Gustoon, but the Mackem doesnt support Newcastle so I'm not interested.

You sat back and let Fatma wind us up for ages before reacting, and even then it was when people like Mortician had to absolutely ram the point home.

Can you blame us for taking the stance we do? It's a forum for Newcastle FC after all. Why encourage Sunderland supporters to join in? Is it because the forum you have set up for them clearly has not caught on so you want to encourage numbers to rise here no matter if it upsets the existing REAL fans?

If this is the route the Newcastle forum is going down then I for one (and I know it doesnt bother you so long as the numbers stay high) am gone.

Totally agree Shamrock, who wants to be lectured by a makem about football? - get a life, when they have competed in the champiosn league I might consider their opinion worth listening to.

makem 1973 is FatMA.

Wow, How sad. Should I then delete any other fans comments who are not NUFC fans ?

FYI; I spent about 3 evenings on here chasing up Fatmas posts and deleting them as they came on, which was not an easy task.
I don't get paid to do this and also don't expect thanks either , but I do my best WHEN I can.
My powers do not extend to removing posters privalidges , sometimes I wish they did as it would make life a lot easier.
I have a life outside of this forum too you know and would hope that before people start whining on that the Mods don't do a proper job, consider that.

Last year , Helen asked if anyone wanted to be a moderator , that was a chance for posters to make our forums a better place , but not a lot of people wanted to do the job.

This thread will now reside in the SAFC forum until someone there complains , and then it will be locked.

You really need someone who knows the lower leagues, knows how to operate on a reduced, uncertain wage / transfer budget and someone who knows how to put together a good side outside the Prem.

Just like Roy Keane ey.....
