I'm sorry I put that idea on the backburner for all this time. But as you say we can start a simple prediction league amongst ourselves. Your suggestions are good.
Correct Result (Final Score) - 5 points
I suggest the following scoring system: - (I've just changed the points slightly)
5 pts = Fully correct score i.e. correct outcome, exact scoreline which implies correct GD
4 pts = Correct outcome, not the exact scoreline but the correct GD
3 pts = Correct outcome only
E.g. If NUFC beats Man Utd 1-3 on the first day of the season (wishful thinking) and our predictions are as follows,
Polly: - 0-2
Marlene: - 1-3
CWL: - 0-1
Magpie: - 1-1
Then we get the following points,
Polly: - 4 (correct outcome with the not the exact scoreline however he got the GD right)
Marlene: - 5 (fully correct score)
CWL: - 3 (Correct outcome only)
Magpie: - 0
Correct First Goal Scorer - 3 points
I like this one.
All Correct Goal Scorers (Toon only) - bonus 2 points
I would suggest awarding a point for each correct goal scorer also on top of a bonus of 2 points for all correct goal scorers.
I guess I went and complicated it a little. What do you think? I just made it up right now.

We can keep the first goal scorer open to the opposition. Sounds good.

Starting to take shape I think. Now all we need is Marlene's input and we can give it a try this weekend.
My first prediction is that Polly will take the Toon to win 4 - 0 although he may not come up with the goal scorers until late Saturday night or possible early Sunday morning after he has been out training!![]()

ClearWhiteLight wrote:Magpie, Marlene not been seen since yesterday perhaps she is resting up after not feeling too good or just busy now schools nearly out for holidays.
Left a PM for her to see if she is okay but that's only any good if she logs on to the forum.
Which reminds me I read your email about Manure, however by the time I got around to it you had decided not to go as it was just a lot of hassle so I didn't reply. I should have dropped you a line just to acknowledge getting it but as you can appreciate with your Uni work sometimes the days just seem to fly by before you remember to respond.
It's the downside of having virtual friends unless you like messenger or worse still facebook..........................![]()
Hopefully Marlene will be back on soon just to let us know she is okay.
Polly is very quiet must be very sore throat...................probably from too much training!
