Marlene, I think the Sol Campbell deal is a good one in light of Stevie Taylor's injury which we now hear will keep him out for 3 months. Campbell at the moment is fit and is ready to start. So in terms of providing cover it is a good option. Here are some reasons why I think the deal is a good one,

1) Top quality player ON A FREE
2) Sol has worked with Hughton before at Spurs and is comfortable with him. In fact I hear they are friends off the field.
3) Campbell is at the stage of his career where he has done it all, seen the ups and downs. I feel he wants just one last shot at the big time before settling down in the Newcastle area with his Geordie wife (I hope I got that last bit correct).

My only concern is "Can Sol stay fit for the whole 1 year of his deal?". But then again he finished last season as Arsenal's most consistent performer with Monsieur Wenger wanting him to stay. That says a lot.

Also I think it's a neat piece of business by Hughton who I respect more by the day. Signs the youngsters on 4 year deals and signs Sol on a 1 year deal meaning if Sol doesn't perform he is out next year. Impressive Chris Hughton! (All on a limited transfer budget)

So that's 3 signings so far. Hughton said it won't be more than 5. So we can expect 2 more signings then. I guess we'll see a winger come in and maybe a striker.

Hope you all are fine. I’ve been a little busy lately but will drop by now and then. Marlene hope you're feeling better!...Take care all.

Good post Magpie...............................

Should we get two more permanent signings of real quality or perhaps younger players with a point to prove similar to The Goose (Someone like O'Hara but not injured of course!) I will be delighted. Real bonus will be if we can get a couple of more talented youngsters from say Manure, Chelski, Gooners or even Abu Dhabi City on year long loans to go with those permanent deals. The squad would look a lot more healthy.

Whether the majority of fans rate Hughton or not it's difficult not to admire the professional way he goes about his job. He certainly gains my respect for that alone.

TC and catch up with you all later.

Good morning peeps!....The weathers gloomy outside today morning but it's looking bright for the young guns at our club as they romped to a 3-0 victory and handed new manager Peter Beardsley a debut win. Hope we unearth some gems from there. Vukcic already seems like one doesn’t he? And Ranger scoring all the goals might make Hughton think twice about loaning him out this season. Talking about Hughton he’s done a good job landing Sol though I now hear that he had to persuade Ashley a lot to get him as Sol is quite obviously over the age limit. But with his experience he might be a valuable asset and who knows we might have killed two birds with one stone and landed a future defensive coach.

Anyways hope you all are fine. Polly let’s not talk about the fella on the other thread. Let’s carry on what we’re here for!...I'm out for the day...Take care all of you... :D

Marlene ...just checking in to maintain the thread solidarity, questioned by a 6 year old with soiled pants.
Somebody(think it was CWL) posted the reason for this thread .
Lets just re-iterate!!!!...............This is a protest against Mike Ashley and his regime.............it will last until he is gone.
We may not be able to hurt him in any way, but at least on here I can protest until the day arrives. HTL.
