Have you not had protection on on your other PC?

Yes I did.

Virgin PC Guard and superantispyware.

On this one I'm using a free months trial of Kapersky before I part with me money.

Any recommendations before I commit ?

Bitdefender http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/ is about the best around at the minute. It's so much more than just an AVG and is updated daily. It was also awarded the "best buy" from Which? Magazine and has one of the easiest to use UI's you're ever likely to come across. :D

We've always used the free AVG, had it for years and no problem :D Also got free spyware thingio. When I first got the laptop there was Norton on it, and I got rid of it, didn't like it at all :x

I've had no problems, I use Norton. Check out the price at PC world it's usually cheaper.

It takes up an awful lot of the computers resources though Milky. Especially of concern if using a netbook or an older pc

I believe so, but mine is just over one year old, 3GB and triple core so it's fine.

I'm writing a book based loosely on my life before i came on this forum. I would never use Norton in conjuntion with my searching the internet for my research with Norton running.
P.S. those who thought i was Raoul Moat. Well, you were wrong but he was awfuly close to my flat when he fired those shots.

Thanks rosey.
I've learned a lot about myself since writing my story. it's true what they say about the cathartic experience.
I'm seeing where it took me down the wrong roads in terms of emotional intelligence. I've had a good long look at myself.
